WHITES HEADING BACK OUT TO NICHOLLS FOR KEY CLASH
The Whites get the lucky assignment of travelling out to the picturesque Nicholls Oval to take on the Eagles for a second time in season 2021 this Saturday as the jockeying for finals spots heats up with just 4 rounds remaining in the ACT Rugby Union competition. Very little separates the Eagles (36 points), Unis (35 points), Wests in (31 points) and the Whites (29 points) so every match will be crucial to staying in the hunt.
The Whites last match against Wests was again washed out so at present those teams have spilt the points but may still play if required with another spare weekend before finals commence.
The Whites will be hoping to repeat the last outing at Nicholls where they came home the victors to start a run of 3 wins on the trot before last weeks washout. Never fear however as the hosts will be eager to wipe the memory of that defeat and at the same time put a huge dent into the Whites finals aspirations.
Good news for the Whites will be the return of Brumbies rookie prop Fred Kaihea from a knee injury sustained during the Super Rugby season and his pace, skill and punch will be a welcome addition to a young forward pack building nicely over recent weeks. The forward match up will be key to unleashing 2 quality backlines filled with speed and power and the match will be worth the long journey for those travelling Whites supporters.
2s, 3s and Colts will look to replicate recent wins which has seen the Club win all grades in the last 4 weeks and all sides building very nicely and all in shot of a finals berth. The last time the Clubs met, the Whites had a massive day out winning 1s, 2s, 3s and 4s and narrowly going down in Colts – a feat few Clubs do at Gungahlin!!
4ths scheduled Saturday match versus ADFA has been moved to this Thursday night before taking on Easts next week.
